What does cosmetic dentistry include?
Cosmetic dentistry includes all kinds of treatments and procedures that help you achieve a healthy, straighter smile. Dr. Nosratabadi provides:
- Teeth whitening
- Veneers
- Crowns and bridges
- Inlays and Onlays
- Composite bonding
- Dental implants
Are cosmetic dental procedures painful?
While you may experience some discomfort during certain procedures, you shouldn’t be in pain. Teeth whitening is one type of cosmetic dentistry that can be uncomfortable, but it isn’t painful. When you get into more invasive procedures like dental implants that require crowns, Dr. Nosratabadi usually uses a local anesthetic to minimize your discomfort. She also can provide nitrous oxide, which is commonly known as “laughing gas”, to soothe your anxiety. This gas often makes patients drift off to sleep during procedures.
Can cosmetic procedures be done on an urgent need basis?
Yes. If you break a tooth or have some type of trauma that knocks out a tooth, you might need a cosmetic procedure right away. Dr. Nosratabadi can help restore a tooth that was knocked out, or replace it all together with a dental implant. If you have an accident that results in a broken tooth, don’t panic; just give the office a call. Dr. Nosratabadi can reshape your tooth, cover it with a veneer, or use a composite filling to get your smile back.
Why do I need to see a dentist for teeth whitening?
Dr. Nosratabadi uses professional-strength teeth whitening treatments to give you your dream smile in just one visit. If you try to whiten your teeth at home, you risk damaging your teeth from leaving harsh chemicals on too long — or allowing them to seep into sensitive gum tissue. This can lead to tooth sensitivity and increased risk of breaks or fractures in the future.
Will I need multiple appointments for cosmetic procedures?
It depends on what you’re having done. Teeth whitening, for instance, can often be completed in one visit. If you’re being fitted for veneers or a new crown or bridge, you’ll likely get a temporary covering during your first visit. You’ll need to come back to get your dental device permanently attached when it comes back from the lab.
