What is the difference between Invisalign® and Clear Correct®?

Both Invisalign and ClearCorrect are smile makeover retainers that straighten your teeth. Throughout your treatment, you’ll get a series of plastic retainers that fit snugly over your teeth. Each retainer continually pushes your teeth into the proper alignment. As your teeth shift, you’ll get a new retainer. With Invisalign, you typically get a new retainer each week. Usually with ClearCorrect, you get a new retainer every 2-3 weeks. Either option requires wearing your retainer for around 22 hours per day.

It just depends on your needs and comfort level as to which option you select. Some patients find that Invisalign is more comfortable, while other patients prefer ClearCorrect. While they are similar, Dr. Nosratabadi can go over both options to help you determine which one might be a better option.

Can I still get traditional fixed braces?

Yes. Due to the high cost and retainer fittings involved with Invisalign and ClearCorrect, some patients prefer fixed braces. You’ll get the same end result — a straighter smile — either way. Traditional fixed braces can take longer to perfect your smile though. Most treatment plans are 12-24 months with fixed braces, while removable braces (like Invisalign and ClearCorrect) often work in less than one year.

Do I really need to worry about how straight my teeth are?

Yes. Straight teeth aren’t just essential for a perfect smile. When your teeth are properly aligned, your bite is also aligned. This can minimize chipping, breaking, and fractures that occur when your bite is off. Straight teeth are also often easier to maintain. When your teeth are set right next to each other as they should be, you can floss and brush more efficiently, minimizing chances of decay later.

How often do I need to come in for a checkup?

Whether you have removable braces or fixed braces, you still need to come in to have your progress checked about once every 6-8 weeks. For fixed braces, you’ll need to have the braces manually adjusted. If you have removable braces, you likely will need to be fitted for new retainers.
